TikTok set to be banned in the US from Sunday

Popular video-sharing app TikTok, and other Chinese apps such as WeChat, will likely be banned from Sunday 20 September 2020, according to the Trump administration.

This news comes despite the fact that Oracle are in talks to buy the American side of TikTok and break it out into its own company.

Last month TikTok filed a lawsuit against the American government, which stated that the app has 100 million users in the US.

Globally TikTok has over 700 million active users, so losing 100 million won’t exactly kill the app, but it still represents a significant chunk of its userbase.
